Michael White
White takes a scientific look at a variety of paranormal occurances: ghosts, time travel, telekenesis, spontaneous human conbustion, the loch ness monster... you get the picture. He applies scientific principles in the hopes of understanding if any of these can actually occur, often deciding that they are quite possible if only we understood more. White, who has served extensively as a scientific consultant for magazines and television, obviously wants to believe that these things can be real and this tends to color his logic and language at times. But usually the text is a fascinating combination of science and spooks.
